Groveport Aquatic Center to remain closed for the season
On May 26, 2020, the City made the difficult decision not to open the Groveport Aquatic Center (Outdoor Pool) for summer 2020. This decision was made after significant discussion and consideration of the required safety precautions for opening pools occurred. It was ultimately decided, for public safety, health and welfare of our patrons and staff, the most responsible decision was to not open the pool this year.
The City is following the advice of Joe Mazzola, MPA (Franklin County Health Commissioner), who stated in a letter to Public Pool Operators on May 20, “To reduce the risk of transmission in our health jurisdiction, though permissible by the state, Franklin County Public Health is strongly advising licensed pools not to open this year.”
The City of Groveport understands that this closure will be disappointing for many Groveport residents and other central-Ohioans who have been a part of the facility’s success since 2003. The City looks forward to re-opening in 2021.
