PICKLEBALL?
The Groveport Parks & Recreation Department will be introducing the growing sport of Pickleball at the Groveport Recreation Center.
WHO: All ages
WHAT: Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a wiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. The game can be played as singles (one person per side) or doubles (two people per side). It is easy for beginners to learn, and can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
If you are interested in playing or learning more about the sport of Pickleball, please complete a Pickleball Interest Form which are available at the Fitness Center Desk. Once our staff thinks that we have enough interest, we will purchase the necessary equipment and schedule some Pickleball demonstration times. Our goal is to initially schedule some drop-in time for Pickleball. Hopefully interest increase so that leagues & tournaments may eventually be offered.

Thursday Mornings- 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Thursday Evenings- 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- League will tentatively begin April 4, 2013
- Participants are guaranteed 2 games every Thursday
- Games are self scored
- Games will be played as doubles
- Partner's will be assigned and will change weekly
- All levels of play are encouraged and welcome to play
- The first day of league play will be an open demonstration for all league participants
- Registrations are accepted by mail, fax or walk-in to the Groveport Recreation Center

- 6 team maximum for Wednesday evenings
- 10 team maximum for Sunday afternoons
- 7 game regular season
- Top 4 teams advance to a single elimination tournament
- Registrations are accepted by mail, fax or walk-in to the Groveport Recreation Center

The Groveport Parks and Recreation Dept. is offering 5 Adult Summer Softball Leagues for the 2013 season.
Sundays- Co-Ed Recreational
Mondays- Men's Competitive
Tuesdays- Men's Open
Thursdays- Men's Open
Fridays- Co-Ed Competitive
- 12 teams for each league
- Registrations are accepted by mail, fax or walk-in to the Groveport Recreation Center
- 10 game regular season along with a single elimination post season tournament
- Games begin at 6:15 PM
- Games are governed by ASA
- Season will tentatively begin the week of April 21
- NEW this year- Champion teams from Men's Monday, Tuesday and Thursday leagues as well as Co-Ed Sunday and Friday leagues will be entered into a Champ of Champs tournament

Adult Men's Summer Softball Tournament
The Groveport Parks and Recreation Dept. is offering a one day Men's Open softball tournament. All teams are put into team pools (3 games) then each team is invited into a single elimination tournament. Tournament seeds are based on pool play results. All games are located at Groveport Park.

- Registrations are first come-first served. You are encouraged to register early

Adult Co-Ed GRASS Volleyball Tournament
Saturday June 1, 2013
- All teams are placed into pools (guaranteed 3 games)
- All teams are then placed into a single elimination tournament
- Registrations are accepted by mail, fax or walk-in to the Groveport Recreation Center
- Games are rally score to 25 with a 2 point advantage best of 3 games
- Players must play in pool play to participate in single elimination tournament
- T-Shirts are awarded to tournament Champion!
- All games are played outdoors at Groveport Park.

Groveport Tennis Academy Spring Tennis
The Groveport Parks and Recreation Department is offering high quality tennis instruction for juniors (3 1/2 year and older) at an affordable price. Clinics are available for beginners through tournament level and league players. Let Chris Brown-Borden, USPTA Certified Teaching Professional and former Assistant Head Pro of New Albany Country club, introduce you to the game or further your knowledge and skills. Quick Start Instruction will be used with Juniors. All lessons will take place at Groveport's Degenhart Park located at 355 Lesleh Ave. Groveport, OH 43125. A minimum of 3 registered participants for class to run, additional sections will be added when possible with 3 on the waiting list.
